Administrative Allocation

The smartnumber® system has been developed to efficiently and transparently allocate nominated freephone and local rate numbers. To obtain a particular number (including patterned smartnumbers® and phonewords) you must participate in an online auction.

If you do not want to nominate a particular number you can obtain a randomly selected 13, 1300 or 1800 number from a carriage service provider. The carriage service provider will offer a limited choice of numbers. These numbers will be drawn from a pool of numbers set aside for administrative allocation,.

To obtain a number under the administrative allocation process, approach your carriage service provider. Under this procedure, numbers are generally allocated on a 'first-come, first-served' basis. These numbers will not contain highly patterned numbers.

Carriage service providers apply charges for the administrative allocation of a number, this charge generally includes an administrative fee. It is additional to other service charges that may apply for the connection and ongoing service on the number.

For more information about the administrative allocation procedure, contact any of the carriage service providers listed on this site.
